Rubik’s Cube

Very famous Rubik’s cube puzzle game is now available for your Symbian S60 5th edition touch screen mobiles (Nokia 5800 , N97, N97 Mini, X6, 5230 , 5233 and 5530 ). Rubik’s Cube is a Java game developed by Luis Miravalles.

All you can do with this game is – solve the Rubik’s cube puzzle. Following are the instructions for same-

1. In order to rotate a face of the cube, you have to press in that face and do a movement in the direction you want to rotate. You only can rotate one of 3 faces each time. To move other faces, you have to rotate the whole cube.

2. In order to rotate the entire cube to view other faces, you have to press and move the pointer outside the cube. You can move vertically or horizontally depending on the main component of your movement in the x,y axis. Once you release the pointer the cube stay in the normalized position closest to actual rotation, i.e. the cube rotates allways a entire number of 90º degrees.

Sink balls of like colors into door holes to complete levels. Clicking this hole will open and close the trap door. The rack of ball located at the top of the screen indicate which balls are required to sink to pass the level. Click switches to redirect balls into adjacent lanes. Clicking a pipe will redirect the ball one lane to left or the right. Use ramps to jump over objects on the board.

The game has a very simple green and white colored interface which has left/right/down and rotate keys on the bottom of the screen. On top of the screen, you can see Level, Lines and your score along with buttons to pause and stop the game.

The performance of this game is not up to the mark. It is having serious issues with the speed. The speed is slow and you can notice it easily even in the very first game.

AntSnes Emulator

AntSnes is Snes9x emulator for S60. It is actually based on OpenSnes9xGP, modified Snes9x for GP32 handheld, which had parts of itadapted to/totally rewritten for GP32 (in C or ASM). As GP32 is ARM CPU based device (same as S60 phones), these optimizations were used in this thisport.

The Super Nintendo Entertainment System (also known as the Super NES, SNES or Super Nintendo) is a 16-bit video game console that was released by Nintendo. AntSnes allows you to play the games available on Super Nintendo. All you need is the ROM of these games. Once you have ROMS, you can transfer them to your mobile and try loading them in this application using Load ROM as shown in the previous screenshot.

You can easily get thousands of ROM from the internet. Just try googling them. With this download, you will be provided a sample Super Mario World ROM to test this application. Once loaded, you will be able to play the game as shown in the following screenshot.

AntSnes is a nice application for your mobile because it open doors for thousands of Nintendo games available already. You can play them all on your S60 mobiles. The application is in Beta stage and trying to get better on future releases. The current version is speed optimized. This emulator should work fine with all Symbian S60 5th mobiles such as Nokia 5800 XpressMusic, N97, X6, 5530 XpressMusic, 5230 and 5233 mobiles. The application is not yet tested on Samsung i8910 Omnia HD, but supposed to work properly.

It’s fun playing games like Super Mario or S60 mobiles. It will take sometime for you to hands-on with AntSnes.
